Review your degree audit in Patriot Web
- What requirements do you have remaining for your degree? What do you still need for Mason Core, your major, your minor?
- Not sure what your degree audit actually is? Check out Registrar resources and ask your advisor!
- Based on your review of your degree audit, come up with a schedule, including back-up course options.
Connect with your academic advisor
- Make an appointment with your CHSS advisor to confirm your classes and ask any questions you have about your progress.
- If you decide to make changes to your schedule after your advising conversation, be sure to confirm with your advisor.
Review your account for any holds
- Check Patriot Web for any holds on your account that might be preventing registration, and reach out to the appropriate office to resolve your hold.
- Learn more about holds and ways to resolve them, and email our team if you need assistance.

As you plan for financing the upcoming semester, keep in mind:
- Tuition is not due until the first day of classes, and payment plans are available. Consult Student Accounts for your options.
- The Mason Student Services Center (MSSC) is your first stop for financial aid questions; they can also facilitate a meeting with your Financial Aid counselor. Find the MSSC and Office of Student Financial Aid online and on the ground floor of SUB I.
- The Student Support and Advocacy Center (SSAC) has a wonderful financial well-being team and resources available to you - learn more!
- Tuition insurance options should be carefully reviewed each semester; the deadline to purchase is the last day to drop.
If financial challenges are preventing you from registering, please reach out to your academic advisor or contact us.

Key points regarding Leave of Absence:
- The maximum time allowed for a leave of absence is two years. Students who are away longer than two years must re-apply to GMU.
- Students may not take courses elsewhere while on a Leave of Absence.
- Students participating in a GMU-sponsored study abroad program do not need to submit a Leave of Absence.
- Be sure to review all related policies in the University Catalog.
