For Advisors

This section is intended to provide resources for academic advisors in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The Undergraduate Academic Affairs office seeks to support advisors in their day-to-day work with students and overall development as advising professionals.

Mason Academic Advisor Network (MAAN)

We encourage all CHSS staff and faculty who work with students in an academic advising capacity to join MAAN, our advisor network on campus. Joining MAAN provides you with access to a listserv which distributes timely and helpful information relevant to advising, and opens opportunities to collaborate on MAAN initiatives with colleagues across campus. NACADA, the Global Community for Academic Advising

NACADA is the professional organization for advisors. The organization is divided into regions, with Mason situated within Region 2. Regional conferences and Drive-Ins are a great way to work with other advisors on current issues affecting our profession.

One of the best ways to stay abreast of current trends in advising is to become a member. NACADA also maintains a Clearinghouse of articles on advising that is open for research by members and non-members.
